The college Central Library established in 1947 named after Khan Bahadur Fazl-ur-Rahman Khan, the founder of Gandhi Faiz-e-Aam College, Shahjahanpur. The library is considered the very centre of academic life of a college and play an important role in carving the carrier of the students. The F.R.K. library is an impressive double story building spread over an area of approximately 5000 Sq.Ft. with world of knowledge housed in it. It has two spacious Reading Rooms, one each for Boys and Girls. Stack area are spread over two floor, apart from Central library, seminar libraries are also run in Post Graduate Departments.
The Total number of books in the College Library is more than 54846. There are 25695 Books on different subjects in English Medium 16984 in Hindi Medium, 5839 Books in Urdu Medium and 6328 books in other Languages. The Library has a separate "Shahjahanpur Author's Corner" which displays the books written, Edited or Compiled by the writers of Shahjahanpur.
There is also College corner in the Library which displays books written, Edited or Complied by the Professors of the College. There is a vast collection of religious books belonging to Islam and Hinduism. Computerization of Library:- Library is fully computerized and its entire collection of books and journals is available on our website http://www.gfcollege.in thourgh OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue). Every student enrolled in the college is required to become a member of the College Library after filling a library membership form. Library membership is open to staff, research scholars, students and non-teaching staff of the College. Scholars and faculty members of other Institutions are also encouraged to use the library for reference only.
The OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) allows search the availability of Books by Author, Title, Subject, Call No., Keywords and Boolean search. Call Number indicates the Physical location of Book on the shelf.
The computer catalogue OPAC is extremely user friendly and enable searches to be conducted with ease and speed. Shelf arrangement of Books is processed by using AACR-II for cataloguing and Dewey decimal classification scheme.
The Call numbers in the OPAC helps in locating the books in the shelves. Books are arranged in the shelves in numerical order from 000-999. Library has set up a separate and dedicated internal serive for the members.
At present the service is available to registered users of the library from 10:00 to 04:00 p.m. on all working days, No outsider is allowed to use this facility.
